1964 Press Car BJ8
Completed at the end of January 1964, this early Mk III 3000 was dispatched direct to the Longbridge publicity department as a ‘press demonstrator’.
The ‘new’ Mk III model saw changes to styling and interior luxury and our car, finished in the popular Colorado red with black trim, featured in the early promotional material for this latest model.
Out of a total production run of 17,712 early Mk III models only 108 were right hand drive UK cars.
With its instantly recognisable Birmingham registration number you can see pictures of this car in various publications and as you would expect this car was fitted with all of the preferred factory options including wire wheels, overdrive, laminated screen, adjustable steering, heater, Roadspeed tyres and radio.
The car is virtually complete but requires a full and comprehensive restoration. History is being researched but currently includes BMIHT production record and correspondence regarding the retention of the important registration number.
